چکیده
Background To date, preclinical studies evaluating MRI-guided ablation have used non-irrigated catheters limited to test lesions in the right heart. Modern complex EP procedures require externally irrigated catheters to produce adequate lesion depth. We present the first feasibility study of an externally-irrigated MRI-compatible ablation catheter, and integrated EP pacing and recording system. We demonstrate the feasibility of pulmonary vein (PV) and cavotricuspid isthmus (CTI) ablation, the targets of ablation in atrial fibrillation and typical atrial flutter respectively.

Interactive real-time mapping and catheter ablation of the cavotricuspid isthmus guided by magnetic resonance imaging in a porcine model
AIMS We investigated the feasibility of real-time magnetic resonance imaging (RTMRI) guided ablation of the cavotricuspid isthmus (CTI) by using a MRI-compatible ablation catheter. METHODS AND RESULTS Cavotricuspid isthmus ablation was performed in an interventional RTMRI suite by using a novel 7 French, steerable, non-ferromagnetic ablation catheter in a porcine in vivo model (n = 20). The c...

BACKGROUND Radiofrequency (RF) ablation of cavotricuspid isthmus (CTI) dependent flutter can be performed using different types of ablation catheters. It has been proposed that irrigated and large-tip catheters are capable of creating larger lesions, resulting in greater efficacy. This prospective, randomised clinical study compared the efficacy of irrigated and large-tip catheters of different...
متن کاملThe impact of image integration on catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation using electroanatomic mapping: a prospective randomized study.
AIMS A detailed appreciation of the left atrial/pulmonary venous (LA/PV) anatomy may be important in improving the safety and success of catheter ablation for AF. The aim of this randomized study was to determine the impact of computed tomographic (CT) integration into an electroanatomic mapping (EAM) system on clinical outcome in patients undergoing catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation (A...
متن کاملSuccessful irrigated-tip catheter ablation of atrial flutter resistant to conventional radiofrequency ablation.
BACKGROUND Catheter ablation of typical right atrial flutter is now widely performed. The best end point has been demonstrated to be bidirectional isthmus block. We investigated the use of irrigated-tip catheters in a small subset of patients who failed isthmus ablation with conventional radiofrequency (RF) ablation. METHODS AND RESULTS Of 170 patients referred for ablation of common atrial f...
